Orthopedics — Total Hip Replacement

Latitud™ Acetabular Cup System

A cementless modular acetabular system designed for press-fit fixation and secure liner integration.

The Latitud™ Acetabular Cup System combines a hemispherical titanium-alloy shell with a modular highly cross-linked polyethylene liner.

The shell is designed for cementless press-fit implantation in the prepared acetabulum. Its porous outer surface supports mechanical fixation, while optional screw fixation can provide additional immediate stability when required.

The modular liner connects to the shell through complementary taper and rim-locking features and incorporates anti-rotation tabs to help maintain liner position within the acetabular component.

The system

A modular acetabular construct for cementless fixation

The modular shell is manufactured from Ti-6Al-4V ELI titanium alloy and has a hemispherical geometry designed for press-fit implantation without bone cement.

Its outer surface incorporates a porous titanium coating. A threaded apical hole at the dome provides an interface for surgical insertion instruments.

Depending on shell size, two or three screw holes are available for optional supplementary fixation. Shells with outer diameters of 40, 42 and 44 mm incorporate two screw holes, while larger shell sizes incorporate three.

The internal shell geometry combines a taper interface, a circumferential locking undercut and dedicated castellations designed to engage the modular polyethylene liner.

Key Features

Modular liner features designed for secure seating and broad component compatibility

The modular liner system combines highly cross-linked polyethylene with complementary locking and anti-rotation features designed to provide a secure connection between the liner and acetabular shell.

Highly cross-linked polyethylene liner

The modular liner is manufactured from GUR 1020 highly cross-linked polyethylene. Its spherical outer profile is designed to seat within the dedicated modular shell, while the inner bearing geometry accepts compatible femoral heads.

Broad liner and head compatibility

The liner family covers outer diameters from 35 to 52 mm and is designed to accommodate compatible femoral head diameters from 22 to 40 mm, providing multiple combinations for acetabular reconstruction.

Taper and rim locking

An external taper and circumferential locking rim on the liner engage complementary features within the modular shell. The combined interfaces are designed to provide secure liner seating and resistance to extraction.

Anti-rotation locking tabs

Circumferential anti-rotation tabs on the liner engage corresponding castellations in the shell. The system helps resist rotational movement and provides a visual reference for complete liner seating.

Liners with 35 and 37 mm outer diameters use four tabs positioned at 90° intervals. Larger liner sizes use six tabs positioned at 60° intervals.

Indication

Total hip replacement

Total hip arthroplasty replaces damaged articular structures of the hip with prosthetic components. The acetabular component reconstructs the socket side of the joint and provides the interface for the selected bearing liner.

Hip replacement may be considered when severe joint damage results in persistent pain and loss of function despite appropriate non-operative treatment.

Final component selection, fixation strategy and implant use must follow the applicable Instructions for Use, approved indications and local regulatory requirements.
